In case you didn’t know, Anderson Silva has a pretty big coming up later this month. The Spider will be trying to regain the belt he held for so long, by avenging his only loss in the UFC—ever—against Chris Weidman. But even with the rematch so close, many people are still talking about a boxing match between Silva and boxing (more…)

I used to think moving around from weight class to weight class in MMA was a difficult thing to do. Sure, in boxing a guy can fight in multiple divisions rather easily since there seems to be a division at every half-pound. There’s been a recent run of fighters moving around lately and that trend is likely to continue. (more…)

Lyoto Machida not only fought his friend Mark Munoz; he knocked out Munoz with a violent headkick. So he obviously has no problem separating friendship from his job. Anderson Silva on the other hand, might be in the same category as some other champions who are publicly refusing to face a friend inside the cage. (more…)

Georges St-Pierre is the talk of the town, and not just because of the questionable controversial decision he picked up over the weekend. TMZ first reported that St-Pierre’s personal issues that were briefly mentioned Saturday night were two fold. First he was dealing with a gravely ill father that was “dying.” Second, he supposedly got a woman pregnant, and he wasn’t too pleased about it. (more…)

UPDATE: This afternoon, according to La Presse, the St-Pierre family is disputing the rumors that GSP’s father is ill. St-Pierre’s younger sister Myriam, is adamant that her father is in good shape and is NOT sick, as has been reported. More to come.
Georges St-Pierre’s (very) controversial decision win over Johny Hendricks and the confusing aftermath are the talk of the MMA world today. St-Pierre mentioned tending to some personal issues, but didn’t elaborate.

UFC 167’s main card fight between Robbie Lawler and Rory MacDonald isn’t an official #1 contender proposition for Rory, but Dana White seems to be strongly hinting in that direction. But wait…aren’t Rory and champ Georges St-Pierre BFF’s? It doesn’t matter, says “Nostra-Dana.” He’s got a theory. (more…)

UPDATE: Dana White is contradicting yesterday’s report that Cain Velasquez vs. Fabricio Werdum would headline UFC 172 in Mexico. Instead White said that the champ is nursing an injury, which will delay his next fight indefinitely. According to the new report from Yahoo Sports, Velasquez is having an MRI to determine if he needs surgery on (more…)

Here’s a case where a harmless tweet is about to snowball into me wondering what it “really” means. Yesterday, former UFC interim champion Shane Carwin made a comment that got me excited. In response to a question from a fan who asked how retirement was going, Carwin answered, “I’m itching to fight, can’t stand it.”
Harmless comment? (more…)
Looks like Chael Sonnen is putting some thought into his TUF: Brazil 3 coaching staff already. And he’s about to blow your mind. He just made a reference to adding longtime rival Anderson Silva as one of his coaches.
“Who knows, I may reach out to Anderson and see if he wants to be on the coaching staff with me,” he told (more…)
Has the UFC finally reached its saturation limit with the fans? Maybe. This seems really strange, but initial reports are coming out that UFC 165 and UFC 166 ratings were VERY poor. That news is made even more disturbing by the fact that there’s a very good chance that the top Fight of the Year candidates will come from these two events.
